More About Me
I have over 3 years’ professional experience working hands-on with elite teams. I worked as a strength & conditioning coach with Leinster Rugby, with both U20s and Academy players. In Summer '16, I moved to Manchester to work with the Australian U20s during their world cup campaign. Here I acted as assistant S&C coach, working alongside Ben Northcutt (Head of S&C with ACT Brumbies). While studying at Loughborough University, I was assistant S&C coach for the men's senior rugby team (English third-tier rugby). In terms of industry qualifications, I am a certified Conditioning Coach (IRFU), Exercise Scientist (BA, Waterford Institute of Technology), S&C Coach (MSc, Setanta College) and Sports Nutritionist (MSc, Loughborough University).
I have competed at an international level for Irish Rugby League. I also have significant Rugby Union experience, having played for Garryowen RFC in Ireland's top division. I have also represented Munster Rugby at age-grade levels as well as at a collegiate level.
The session plan will depend on both the goals of the athlete and the number of sessions they have signed up for. A typical gym session begins with a warm-up/prehab, which is essential for the prevention of injuries both in the gym and on the pitch. Resistance training typically begins next. Again, this would be tailored to the athletes individual abilities, with each programme designed to help them achieve their specific targets and goals. Finally, a warm-down. Conditioning and speed sessions are not confined to the walls of the gym, and can alternatively be practiced on the pitch.
