Tom is highly regarded sports performance and coaching professional for businesses, teams and athletes of all levels. Tom possesses a unique combination of theoretical and practical application to sport's and athletic performance and every day human movement and has the ability to inspire individuals along their respective journey's.
As a performance coordinator, Tom 's qualifications and own distinguished personal sporting success belie the fact that his greatest strength lies in his ability to inspire and to drive individuals and teams to perform at a level higher than one thought could be achieved. Tom believes every individual is capable of achieving their best when their genotype and phenotype is tailored to their particular needs and optimised.
Human Performance, Tom’s business focuses primarily on firstly helping team's, athlete's and everyday people achieve above and beyond their own athletic, health and well-being goals and secondly, through mentoring and behavioural change. To accomplish this, Tom utilises his impressive knowledge of sports science, elite sports performance and practical coaching experience.
As a coach, his success is based on in-depth understanding of sports science and human movement - he is currently commencing a PhD within the area, has published research papers, and is sought after to train some of the world's finest cricketers.
Tom has used these skills to enhance the performance of individuals and teams in Olympic and professional sports. However, Tom’s particular passion lies in fundamental movement skills for cricketers –and he has a reputation for preparing some of Australia's greatest ever player's holistically for the locomotive demands and skill specific movements of all forms of the game as well as the Sydney Sixers within the Big Bash League Cricket Tournament.
Tom played ten seasons of professional R⊌gby Union with the NSW Waratahs, retiring at the end of 2013. His achievements include 85 State Caps, and 77 Super R⊌gby Caps. In 2013 he also had the honour of captaining his State. Tom received the Waratah Medal for “On and Off Field Excellence" in 2011. He scored two tries in his last appearance for his State against the British and Irish Lions in 2013. In 2014, Tom was inducted as a Waratah Living Legend during the Super R⊌gby grand final. Tom’s greatest contribution to the game of r⊌gby, however has been at a club level where he has captained the Sydney University R⊌gby Club in 2013 and 2014, whilst playing 168 1st Grade for (SUFC) (4th most capped of all time), winning 8 First Grade Premierships (from 2005) and 10 Club Championships. In 2003, Tom was awarded the highly prestigious Sporting Blue in R⊌gby Union by the University of Sydney.
In addition to his own professional sporting success, Tom is an accomplished Exercise Scientist who is passionate about research into elite sporting physiology and performance. He recently graduated from Edith Cowan University with a Masters Degree in Exercise Science (Strength & Conditioning). Furthermore, Tom has formulated and managed the sports performance programs for the highly successful Sydney University Cricket Club (SUCC) and for the Sydney University Footbɑll Club (SUFC) whilst also overseeing the physical preparation of a number of elite athletes across a range of sports including skiing, athletics and R⊌gby Sevens.
